Program overview
The undergraduate Recreation and Sport Management program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Related Professions (COAPRT). COAPRT recognizes academic programs in colleges and universities that prepare new professionals to enter the parks, recreation, tourism, and related professions. COAPRT accreditation is a status granted to an academic program that meets or exceeds stated criteria of educational quality. In the United States, accreditation of professional preparation curricula is conferred by non-governmental bodies, which are often closely associated with professional associations in the field. COAPRT accredits baccalaureate degree programs in this profession.

Sport Management Concentration
Sport management includes any combination of skills related to planning, organizing, leading, marketing, communicating, and evaluating within the context of an organization whose primary product or service is related to sport. The undergraduate Sport Management program at UT is dedicated to the development of a degree related to the understanding of management in a sport-related setting. The curriculum provides students with the opportunity to pursue a degree that combines coursework and professional experience.
Recreational Therapy Concentration
An undergraduate degree in recreational therapy prepares students for employment in management and leadership positions with agencies that deliver health care services. Students are successful in securing employment in psychiatric institutions, physical rehabilitation units, drug and alcohol treatment centers, community-based programs, long-term care facilities, outdoor and school-based programs, and children’s programs.
