Program overview
The BS in Public Health equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to understand, analyze, and improve population health. Through coursework and applied learning experiences, students develop competencies in finding, evaluating, and communicating evidence; interpreting public health data; engaging diverse stakeholders; and designing evidence-informed solutions to complex health challenges. Students explore key areas of public health, including health equity, social determinants of health, ethics, chronic and infectious diseases, health systems, global health, policy, advocacy, data collection and surveillance, program planning and evaluation, and community partnerships. Throughout the curriculum, students learn to apply systems thinking, critical thinking, and evidence-based decision-making to real-world public health issues. Students in the Population Health Sciences concentration gain additional expertise in analyzing population health data, identifying health priorities, and developing strategies to improve health outcomes across diverse communities.
Beyond the classroom, students gain exposure to critical thinking, cultural humility, data literacy, community engagement, collaboration, and professional practice — preparing them for careers in public health practice, healthcare, or graduate study.

Population Health Sciences
Population Health Sciences provides students with a broad base of science, math, and social sciences curriculum grounded in a public health core. Population health is an organizing framework that integrates the healthcare delivery system with the broader public health, social, economic, and political systems that contribute to health.
