CEHHS Winners at Graduate Student Senate Annual Awards Ceremony & Breakfast

The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville rounded out Graduate and Professional Student Recognition Week with the annual GSS Awards Ceremony & Breakfast on April 5, 2019 at the Frieson Black Cultural Center. Graduate and professional students, as well as faculty and staff, were recognized for their outstanding work.

Awards were presented to fourteen outstanding recipients in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences.  Recipients and the category for which they were honored are as follows:

Marie Bliss, Child and Family Studies

The “Excellence in Service” award is presented to graduate and professional students who are extraordinary campus leaders, participate in service learning or other community initiatives, and/or provide service leadership to their academic disciline through service in professional organizations.

Kylee Ault, Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies

Brenna Berry Butler, Educational Psychology and Counseling

Theresa Kwon, Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism Management

The “Excellence in Graduate Student Teaching” award is presented to graduate teaching assistants and associates for extraordinary performance in teaching.

CFS Graduate Student Organization

The “Graduate Student Organization of the Year” award recognizes graduate and/or professional student organizations or councils for their extraordinary contributions to graduate student life or to their respective academic department or program.

Jedediah Blanton, Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport Studies

The “Graduate Professor of the Year” award recognizes faculty and staff members who have shown outstanding commitment to teaching graduate and professional students.

Susan Groenke, Theory and Practice in Teacher Education

Lynn Liao Hodge, Theory and Practice in Teacher Education

Gary Skolits, Educational Psychology and Counseling

The “Graduate Research Mentor of the Year” award recognizes faculty and staff members who have shown outstanding commitment to mentoring graduate research students.

Amy Broemmel, Theory and Practice in Teacher Education

The “Graduate Director of the Year” award recognizes Directors of Graduate Studies who have shown outstanding commitment to mentoring and leading graduate students in their department.
