The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville presented the William J. & Lucille H. Field Award for Excellence in Tennessee Secondary School Leadership on Friday, March 15.  The recipient, Chris Hampton, is high school principal for Dobyns-Bennett High School located in Kingsport, TN.

Hampton, an educator since 1998, was greatly honored and appreciative to receive the award. Hampton feels he owes his wonder staff who give “200%” to support his efforts as his support and reason he was considered for the award.  The Field Award, administered by CEHHS, is given to recognize an outstanding secondary school leader who demonstrates leadership excellence through commitment to the values of civility, candor, courage, social justice, responsibility, compassion, community, persistence, service and excellence.  Nominations are submitted by superintendents, teachers, or community members with first-hand knowledge of the recipients qualities and accomplishments.
