The East Tennessee Stem Hub will host BIG ORANGE Saturday on September 29th, 8 A.M.-1:30 P.M. BIG ORANGE STEM Saturday for Educators (EduBOSS) is a free professional development opportunity for education professionals in East Tennessee. The event will be at held at the UT Library and is sponsored by the UT Library, East Tennessee Stem Hub, and the Center for Enhancing Education in Mathematics and Sciences in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. The event is also partially funded by the UTK Office of Research and Engagement.
The event’s keynote speaker will be Melanie Allen. Her presentation will be “Making It Happen! Creating Makerspaces in Educational Settings to Enhance STEAM Learning and Collaboration.” Melanie serves as the Health Sciences Librarian for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Libraries. Melanie provides instruction and research support for the College of Nursing, and the Departments of Audiology and Speech Pathology, Nutrition, and Public Health. Melanie serves as Immediate Past President for the Knoxville Area Health Sciences Library Consortium (KAHSLC) and as a trainer for the Tennessee Electronic Library (TEL).
