Dean’s Staff Advisory Board Makes Donation to Adopted School


The Dean’s Staff Advisory Board for CEHHS collected donations from faculty and staff for their adopted school, South Knox Elementary School. Items collected included new and gently used toys and books and a large variety of office supplies and classroom materials.  Read more about their efforts and donation.

Educational Psychology & Counseling Student Awarded ACA Foundation Grant

Congratulations to second year doctoral student Jillian Blueford, who was awarded an ACA Foundation Grant to support the development of Camp Aliya! This camp, a new addition to the Grief Outreach Initiative, will run for the first time June 20-21, 2018 at Pond Gap Elementary in Knoxville, serving kids ages 6-10 who have lost a family member or friend.

Several faculty received “Shout-Outs” from students and co-workers during the annual Faculty Appreciation Week from February 12-16.  The love for the faculty in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences is awesome!

The Department of Child and Family Studies hosted the 42nd annual Southeastern Symposium on Child and Family Development or a.k.a. “Quint State 2018” from February 22-24, 2018.  The symposium is an annual conference organized by graduate students for graduate students, with the goal of encouraging student collaboration and professional development.

Dr. Jim McIntyre Represents Tennessee on National Standards Setting Panel for Praxis School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA)

Our own Jim McIntyre from UTK Educational Leadership & Policy Studies represents TN when setting national standards for praxis assessments. 

Retail, Hospitality and Tourism Management Students Take Site Visit

Students in Stefanie Benjamin’s Strategic Management in Hospitality class took their first site visit to The Hampton Inn thanks to HRT alumni and General Manager, Darron Tallent. Students have the opportunity to learn from real life experience through these visits.
