The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences Department of Public Health offers a course which is part of this year’s Smart Communities Initiative (SCI). This course, taught by Cristina Barroso partners faculty and students across campus with communities or municipal groups to engage in real world problem solving and to help improve the economic, environmental, and social conditions of a region. Students have collected data and will analyze it to provide the Southeast Tennessee Development District and the senior center in Gruetli-Laager information to help understand the social and health needs of older adults in Grundy County.
