I began my career in teaching as a resource room teacher in Memphis, Tennessee. Special Education has proven to be rewarding and interesting career for me. Over the years, I have enjoyed watching services for children with special needs change from minimal at best to becoming a significant part of the public educational system. I hope that we can continue to work together to find solutions to the many dilemmas facing educators today. I am a professor of Early Childhood Special Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee where I have been since 1980. Prior to my appointment as Dean for Professional Licensure and Directorship of the Graduate School of Education, I worked with pre-service teachers, masters level students seeking endorsements in Early Childhood Special Education and doctoral students in this area.
