Rules of the Research Office

To avoid the "MFS" ---

  1. GO to the research website for the latest form EVERY TIME!
  2. Figure all personnel pay as per cent of effort—hourly costs will not fly.
  3. PIs cannot make contracts with hotels, restaurants, etc.
    Don't sign- except . . .
  4. Subcontracts are a pain but NECESSARY.
  5. For the record:
    Contract from funder; subcontracts to partners; contracts with vendors.
  6. For the record: IRIS has a language all its own.
  7. The answer to every question is on the web—except the one you have!
  8. Don't worry about who left the water running; just turn off the faucet.
  9. Black holes are everywhere; feedback loops are not.
  10. . . . . but don't leave town!
