LaCava & Smith Invite You to Deaf Night at the Clarence Brown Theater

The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences senior students from the Center on Deafness will partner with the Clarence Brown Theater to interpret the April 26 presentation of South Pacific.  The Center on Deafness students gain valuable hands-on experience interpreting a theatrical production as demeanor, character, and accents from the production must be relayed through sign. The students also get the opportunity to further practice their skill by interacting with members of the deaf community in attendance.

Carol LaCava, coordinator of the Educational Interpreting Program and David Smith, Center on Deafness director, agree that this is a great experiential learning opportunity for the students enrolled in UT’s Deaf Education Program.

More information about the event can be found in this TN Today article.
