“Want To Be Like The Cool Kids? Wear a Bow Tie to School,” says Project Grad Mentor Corey Hodge

College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences Project Grad Knoxville Summer Institute alumni, Corey Hodge, helps kids be cool in his school.  Corey, a new Project Grad Counselor at Whittle Spring’s Middle school, has started a Bow Tie Club.  By teaching the students to act like a leader and in this case, dress like a leader, Corey has helped them to feel better about themselves and step up.  The kids feel like the “cool kids” and more and more apply to join the elite club.

Corey was thankful to have great mentors and programs such as Project Grad to help him make positive choices in his life.  Paying it forward to help others just like those who helped him is a passion of Corey’s.  He is forever grateful for those mentors and the guidance they offered him when needed.

Watch Corey’s interview featured on WBIR Channel 10’s “Paying It Forward” and see the enthusiasm in the faces of these young men.
