Education 100: Service Learning Poster Presentation

The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences Education 100: Service Learning classes presented their projects through a poster presentation on November 12.  The class, led by instructors Marian Phillips from the Office of Field Based Experiences as well as Lisa Emery, Demetria Mells, Laura Stetler, and Carly Chwat of the Office of Student Services, encourages the students to take a hands on approach to learning about becoming a teacher. The students were placed in schools in Knox and surrounding counties and engaged in:

  • identifying the learning needs of students at their placement sites
  • designing and implementing service learning projects to address the identified needs; and
  • reflecting upon the impact of their service learning projects.

Faculty, staff, and mentoring teachers were invited to attend.  The students enjoyed the feedback from the CEHHS faculty and staff which enhances the experience at a level of learning beyond the classroom.
