Venezuelean Coaches Experience Tennessee

The Center for Sport, Peace, and Society continues to inspire youth and let’s be truthful, all those who come in contact with them.  Sarah Hillyer, Director, and Ashleigh Huffman, Assistant Director of the center, inspire positive change everywhere they go.  With the assistance of their team, Sarah and Ashleigh hosted six Venezuelean coaches during the first week of September.  The coaches, through a four-day exchange program through Partners of the Americas and the U.S. Department of State, experienced a day at a local high school and attended and shared with two UT classes about their experiences.  They met and spoke with 2x U.S. Olympic swimmer Kate Ziegler, participated in a nutrition course, a strength and conditioning course courtesy of UT Athletics Department, and finished up with a trip to Girls, Inc. of Oak Ridge during their stay.

The center continues to use sport to change lives, communities, and the world through teaching, research, and service.  Read more about the experiences of the Venezuelean coaches and the great work of the center.
