University-Assisted Community Schools Initiative Awarded Three Year United Way Grant

UACSThe University-Assisted Community Schools (UACS) has been awarded a three year United Way grant through Catholic Charities of East Tennessee,  $100,000 per year to assist in the initiative’s goals.  UACS works to “create challenging learning opportunities for student to excel by providing a nurturing environment supported by the family, community, staff and students.”  The grant, written by Bob Kronick of the Educational Psychology and Counseling Department with the assistance of Mark Benson, UACS School Coordinator and Dareen Basma, Counselor Education PhD student, will aid in funding the personnel to make this possible at two community schools, Pond Gap Elementary and Inskip Elementary.  Read more about the grant and the program.
